Nelson M. Handal, M.D., FAPA - Chairman and Medical Director
Nelson M. Handal, M.D., FAPA is the Founder, Chairman, and Medical Director for the Harmonex Corporation. As a practicing board certified child, adolescent and adult psychiatrist, Dr. Handal has dedicated much of his career to developing and implementing technologies that elevate the quality of patient care. His vision for CliniCom™ was born after many years of tireless work focused on perfecting a clinical model that uses technology, while implementing sensible, practical, and modern clinical practices.
In addition to having established a successful private practice and serving as Medical Director at a large inpatient psychiatric hospital, Dr. Handal participates in extensive clinical research and is a national consultant and speaker on his specific areas of expertise relating to child and adolescent psychiatry. He has been featured in Business Week as well as other national publications and is recognized as a key opinion leader in the area of child and adolescent psychiatry. In May of 2009, Dr. Handal was invited to testify before the United States House Committee on Veterans’ Affairs regarding Innovative technologies and treatments that are currently helping veterans. In the late 1980s, Dr. Handal was president of one of the first telemedicine referral services in the world.
Awards include the 2009 Heroes in the Fight Award given by Mental Health America and The Excellence in Public Mental Health Award for 2008 given by the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI). In 1996 Dr. Handal was presented with the Clinical Scholar Award conferred by the University of Miami School of Medicine.
Dr. Handal is also recognized as a Fellow of the American Psychiatric Association and Diplomate of the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology.
Dr. Handal completed residency training in general psychiatry at the State University of New York Health Science Center at Syracuse in Syracuse, New York. After that, he completed his fellowship in child and adolescent psychiatry at the University of Miami School of Medicine in Miami. Dr. Handal is a member in good standing of the American Psychiatric Association and the American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatrists.
Sharon K. Allred – Chief Executive Officer
Ms. Allred is a recognized leader in healthcare and healthcare consulting with over 24 years of healthcare and management experience. This expertise spans numerous areas of healthcare including product launches, management, sales and marketing. Ms. Allred currently serves as the CEO for Harmonex Corporation.
Previously, Ms. Allred was the national director of provider sales and implementation for Actamed Corporation in Atlanta. Actamed purchased ProviderLink from United, which later became Healtheon and eventually WebMD. Ms. Allred led a national team of over 60 people in inside and outside sales and implementation. Products included electronic claims, referrals, lab transactions, rules and workflow engines for both providers and insurance companies.
Ms. Allred also held the position of the executive vice president of sales and marketing for eMD, an e-prescribing company that sold nationally to physician offices. Her team called on pharmacies, pharmaceutical companies, pharmacy benefit managers and insurance companies.
Prior to that, Ms. Allred served as senior vice president of sales and marketing for Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Tennessee to develop a 50/50 PHO based HMO called Wellport. The HMO had over 60,000 members in the first six months of sales.
In the early 1980s, Ms. Allred worked for United Healthcare to develop and roll out ProviderLink, United’s electronic claim submission and referral product for the state of South Carolina.
G. William Handal – Chief Operating Officer & Marketing Director
Mr. Handal is recognized as a branding and marketing specialist with experience working in a variety of business sectors and with diverse global corporate clients in the acquisition of growth capital, branding and image consulting, product development, and training.
Currently, Mr. Handal divides his time between Atlanta, Georgia and Dothan, Alabama, where he serves as the COO and marketing director for the Harmonex Corporation.
Mr. Handal began his career at the Empire Investment Firm in Miami, Florida. During this period, he was appointed to lead investment teams for the firm’s commercial real estate acquisitions division.
He has been featured in Health IT magazine and has appeared on NBC’s Dateline with Stone Phillips. Mr. Handal is a member of the Advisory Board for Capps College.
G. William Handal attended Florida International University and St. Thomas of Villanova University where he majored in International Finance and Marketing. Mr. Handal completed his internship at Openhiemer CIBC, a global investment banking firm. Mr. Handal is also fluent Spanish.
Tami Johnson, Senior Vice President & Comptroller
Mrs. Tami Johnson serves as Senior Vice President and Comptroller for the Harmonex Corporation and as the Practice Administrator for the Dothan Behavioral Medicine Clinic (DBMC). She has 15 years of administrative health care experience and specializes in insurance reimbursement as well as all other fiscally related administrative duties. Mrs. Johnson was instrumental in structuring the original DBMC model. Mrs. Johnson was among the very first team members at Harmonex and played a key role in its inception. Mrs. Johnson currently manages and oversees all accounting staff and processes at Harmonex.
Barbara B. Skelton, M.S. – Director of Clinical Research
Barbara B. Skelton, M.S. Serves as the Director of Clinical Research for Harmonex Neuroscience. Ms. Skelton graduated Summa Cum Laude from Troy University with a Master’s degree in Counseling Psychology. She completed a Bachelor of Science in Psychology from Troy State University. Prior to joining Harmonex, Ms. Skelton worked directly with children and adolescents at Laurel Oaks Behavioral Health Center. Ms. Skelton began her tenure at Harmonex as a research assistant, later becoming one of three clinical research coordinators responsible for coordinating over ten clinical trials over two years. She now serves as the Director of Clinical Research for Harmonex and oversees the initiation, regulatory documentation, contractual negotiations, and management of all clinical studies for Harmonex.
